REGISTRATION

Q) It is my first competition, how can I register?

A) Follow the steps listed HERE.

Q) Where can I find the important dates?

A) The important dates are listed in Key Dates of event.

Q) I am an colour belt turning 16 this year, what division should I enter?

A) Any colour belt (grey, yellow, orange, green) turning 16 in the calendar year should register in the Blue Belt Juvenile category. 

Q) What happens if I do not have an opponent?

A) You can move yourself into a division that you qualify for if you like. Follow this ink HERE.

If not, we will refund you in full if you ask for refund on the Registration check day deadline. Follow this link HERE.

Q) How long do refunds usually take?

A) We are advised that refunds once processed usually take around 5-10 working days to return to the account that paid.

WEIGH-INS

Q) Do I need ID to check my weight?

A) YES. You need a photo ID to be able to check weight.

Q) When is the earliest I can weigh-in?

A) You can weigh-in approximately 5 fights before your first fight.

Q) Is there any weight allowance when weighing in?

A) There is a strictly ZERO weight allowance.

- If you miss weight, you will be disqualified.

- You cannot move divisions on the day.

- No further changes will be granted after the Registration Edit Period.

Q) Do I need to weigh-in with my Gi on?

A) Weigh-ins are WITH UNIFORM, this means with the Gi or NoGi uniform.

Q) When should I be in the venue?

A) You must be in the venue 60 minutes before your division starts.

- Smoothcomp moves in real time and it is up to you to check when your DIVISION STARTS.

- For example, if your division starts at 1:35pm, then you must arrive at 12:35pm at the latest.

Q) Do I have do check my weight after my first fight or for Open Class?

A) No. Once you have weighed in you do not have to weigh again. But in Open Class you need to show up in the check-in area with your document when the category starts.

Q) Do I need to check my weight if I am alone in the category?

A) Yes, you need to check your weight with gi to be allowed to take medal and register for the Open Class.

COMPETITION

Q) Can I sign up for Open Class divisions on the day of the event?

A) Yes, after get your medal you will be able to sign up to the Open Class (where applicable). You have 15 minutes after the last fight of the category to sign up to the Open Class.

Q) Can I compete with any top or rashguard under my Gi?

A) It is ONLY allowed in FEMALE category.

Q) Can I wear any colour Gi?

A) No, According to IBJJF rules you should wear WHITE, BLUE OR BLACK gi only. Please see this LINK for details.

Q) Can I wear any colour No-Gi uniform or do I have to wear a ranked colour?

A) You must wear a black and / or white NoGi uniform with at least 10% of your colour belt.

Q) Can I wear general shorts with pockets?

A) No, you must wear shorts with no pockets/zips of any kind.

Q) Can I walk around bare foot?

A) No, you must have something on your feet at all times unless you are competing on a mat or warming up on a mat.

Q) Do I have to wear a gum shield?

A) No, it is not mandatory to wear a gum shield but we would advise all athletes to wear one.

Q) What happens if I do not have an opponent in the event?

A) You can take your medal and register to the Open Class if your category has one. Please check this page for details.

Q) Can I receive my medal after the event day?

A) No, Ireland BJJ does not mail out unclaimed or lost medals after the tournaments.
